Humboldt County Republican Platform
2014
HUMBOLDT COUNTY PLATFORM
The Republican Party of Humboldt County, Nevada submits the following items as our 2014 Platform of Principles and action items at the state and national levels:
We support the Taylor Grazing Act and the Mining Law of 1872. We support multiple uses of public lands.
Humboldt County supports the maintenance of water rights as a States Right Issue and urges the Nevada State Government to come to defense of these water rights and to prohibit any federal intervention in the allocation, use or ownership of water rights in the State of Nevada.
We urge adoption of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution to include line-item veto power for the President. Excluded would be Congressional declaration of war or national emergency.
Eliminate recent congressional excessive spending. Eliminate "earmark" spending. Eliminate unfunded mandates. Eliminate the "death tax". Make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Review all social services programs for elimination due to inefficiencies.
To accomplish energy independence for foreign oil, we urge development of nuclear electric generation and other technologies, permitting of oil and gas drilling on ANWAR and all other federal lands and the support by all segments of the government of the Keystone Project. We also believe that killing the coal industry, America’s best hope for inexpensive, clean energy is doing irreparable damage both to our economy and to the citizens and their families that have been working in the coal industry for generations. This predatory policy is making whole regions of our country economic backwaters and killing our ability to produce steel needed for industrial growth, the production of American made products and the security of our nation.
The current Federal medical care laws must be repealed. Medical care must remain on a free-market system. The government has proven unable to fund Social Security and Medicare. Extending government medical care to a wider population will prove to be disastrous financially and administratively.
The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is an individual right and not a collective right. If the Supreme Court decides otherwise, congressional action must quickly re-establish this fact.
Whereas the Constitution and Bill of Rights have established legal precedents for our nation, we urge the appointment of federal judges who will make decisions based on these documents without activist interpretation.
The federal government must immediately secure our borders. Deport all indicted alien criminals. Establish and enforce a procedure including English language fluency and tests of cultural knowledge for gaining citizenship within firm time limits. Eliminate automatic citizenship for children of illegal immigrants. Maintain the current guest-worker program.
We urge the Nevada Legislature to return to a primary election system to include national presidential candidates. Eliminate the caucus system that was not observed in local areas until this year.
Special interests with ulterior motives have misused the Endangered Species Act to threaten rural industries and the rural lifestyle. We request a complete public analysis of economic impacts and local government authority over future listings of species under this act as in the case of sage grouse where these impacts have been completely and negligently ignored.
We favor the replacement of the current IRS tax structure with a more equitable one that supports the American heritage of no taxation without representation and no representation without taxation.
The Federal Reserve Bank as well as the gold reserves in Ft. Knox should be audited to provide transparency and accountability. We support the passage of legislation such as the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.
We oppose the concept and implementation of Leave No Child Behind.
We feel it is time for the American Government to stop data mining our children and the general public, stop listening to our telephone conversations and stop trying to undermine the constitution of the United States of America.
We rise in opposition to the implementation of Common Core Standards. We also find the mandatory teaching of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender life styles and practices in public schools to be morally reprehensible and should be stopped.
